ESG Valuation Risk. Where appropriate and applicable, Dreyfus CIS incorporates environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into its basic credit assessment process. Dreyfus CIS may not consider ESG ratings or other ESG data or analysis in connection with all investment decisions and may determine that other attributes of an investment outweigh ESG considerations when making an investment decision. ESG factors may not be critical in the context of a particular credit analysis or investment decision. Therefore, a Fund may invest in securities of a company/issuer with a negative ESG profile and a Fund may dispose of or not invest in a company/issuer with a positive ESG profile. As ESG data often lacks standardisation, consistency and transparency, such data, including ESG ratings for specific issuers/companies, may not be available, complete or accurate.

The impact of COVID-19 has contributed to increased volatility in global markets and is likely to affect certain countries, companies, industries and market sectors more dramatically than others. To the extent that the Fund may be overweight its investments in any particular country, company, industry or market sector, such positions increase the risk of loss from adverse developments affecting that country, company, industry or sector.
